WINNER of sky arts portrait artist of the year

The winner of Sky Arts Portrait Artist of the Year 2018, Samira Addo, is commissioned for a portrait of the actor Kim Cattrall, now hanging in the prestigious Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool. Click here to read the exclusive Winner interview with Cass Art.



3 artists in one last 4 hour challenge, competing to win a commission of the multi-award winning actor Kim Cattrall. Aside from the 4 hour challenge to paint Emeli Sande, the finalist's also take on a commission to be judged alongside it - I had the pleasure of painting Zandra Rhodes.



Winners from Heat 1-8 compete for a place in the Finals in another 4 hour painting challenge. This time around the celebrity sitters are Lily Cole and Simon Callow.



8 Heats, 72 artists and 24 celebrities. The first stage of the competition where the artist’s are organised in groups of 3, to focus on 1 celebrity in the 4 hour portrait challenge. The winner of each Heat will go on to the Semi-finals stage and face another round of challenges.

The art competition where professional and amateur artists alike take on the challenge of creating portraits of celebrity sitters in 4 hours! Artists have the freedom to choose mediums, sizes and approaches to their portraits, which are then judged by experts; Kate Bryan, Kathleen Soriano and Tai-Shan Schierenberg. This year the winner will be awarded a £10000 commission of the multi-award winning actor Kim Cattrall, and the finished portrait will hang in the permanent collection at The Walker Art Gallery in Kim’s birth city of Liverpool.
